An invitation…to be a needed connection
By BJ Burnett
I invite you to imagine that your best childhood friend is struggling with loneliness and could use some cheering – you see his wife has advanced Alzheimer’s and is a nursing facility. He feels so lost and so alone – he’s getting on in years and doesn’t drive very well anymore…So of course…you send him a card and tell him you care and that you are praying for him. And when you are in the area over the weekend, you drive him over to see the love of his life at the nursing facility. He is over the moon to see her and your heart is bursting with joy.
Now, I invite you to see your Christ’s Church members as you would these family members and friends. There are many opportunities to give love and care to our church family when life happens. And of course…because we are family—it just what we do. But sometimes life gets busy, time gets away, and the thought slips away, so now I invite you to join in this great ministry.
There are so many ways to connect our church family:
- providing a meal and visiting with a beloved grandmother for example;
- connecting a brave young couple celebrating the miracle of birth, to each other when they’re separated, for another.
You’re welcome to provide the level of help you’re able to, large or small. You will be appreciated.
