Concerts
Music feeds the soul. It has power to soothe the spirit, power to move to action, power to transform us all. We believe good music is an important part of community life for everyone, not just church members. So, as part of our commitment to community outreach here at Christ’s Church, we host many types of concerts and recitals throughout the year, offering many kinds of music. Always, all are welcome.
In our adult concert series, we host a wide variety of music and musicians. Past concerts have included prestigious professional groups such as the Queen City Jazz Band, St Martin’s Choir, and the Zodiac Trio, as well as college groups such as the Nebraska Wesleyan Jazz Choir. We have hosted community groups such as Castle Rock Community Ringers, local singer and guitar player Joe Uveges, and our own Annual Cabaret featuring Christ’s Church musicians and friends.
It’s important to us to nurture young people who are engaged in learning music, and help them experience the joy of making music. So, throughout the year, we host performances by several student groups such as the Castle Rock Youth Symphony, the Douglas County Youth Orchestra, and the Castle Rock Childrens’ Choir. Several summers, we hosted a youth Jazz workshop. We encourage private music teachers to hold student recitals here — and many do, everything from piano to oboe, trumpet, voice and guitar.
We’d love to have you share in the joy of music with us. Check our website for current concert schedules. And if you or someone you know would like to make music here, contact our music director, Kathy Mordeaux at kathy@christsepiscopalchurch.org. Let music feed your soul!
