The Gospel of Paul

A WisdomQuest Weekend Workshop
July 28-30, 2023
In the Christ’s Church Undercroft

The essence of the Christian message, according to Martin Luther, is “justification through faith by grace,” which Luther derived mostly from Paul’s Letter to the Romans.

How does this “gospel” line up with the good news proclaimed by Jesus? Is this the gospel Paul actually preached? Was Paul a radical innovator who transformed the “Jesus Movement” into something new, or was he an apostle who faithfully shared and elaborated the message of Jesus?

In this workshop, we’ll look first at the historical context we need for understanding Paul’s writings, then we’ll dive deep into select passages from his letters in search of answers to these questions.

Bob Neuwoehner, PhD, a biblical scholar and author, will lead the workshop and facilitate our explorations of Paul’s gospel. When we finish, we’ll appreciate more deeply his preaching — and better understand its broad appeal.
